ICC releases iccDEV toolkit

October 27, 2025. ICC has launched the next version of its software for working with ICC profiles.

The iccDEV project (formerly known as DemoIccMAX) provides an open-source set of libraries and tools that allow for the interaction, manipulation, and application of ICC based color management profiles based on the ICC profile specification and the iccMAX profile specification.

iccDEV was released with a strong focus on developer experience, making installation seamless through package managers including Homebrew and vcpkg.

"With the work being done for HDR in ICC profiles, it was felt that the open-source color management efforts are better expressed as a general ICC development tool rather than just focused on the iccMAX profile specification," said Max Derhak, ICC Co-Chair. "Additionally, the developer experience is a key focus, with efforts to make getting up and running with the development projects much easier."

iccDEV is open source (BSD 3-Clause) and available on GitHub.
