Malformed profiles - missing-required.icc

The ICC specification defines required and optional tags for all profile classes. In addition to profile class-specific requirements, all profiles are required to include the following tags:
  • profileDescriptionTag ('desc')
  • copyrightTag ('cprt')
  • mediaWhitePointTag (mwpt)
The 'desc' tag is needed for example when building a list of profiles for display. The 'cprt' tag identifies the owner of the intellectual property in the profile, and can provide additional information such as any licensing requirements. The 'mwpt' tag is needed to compute the ICC-absolute rendering intent from the Media-relative Colorimetric intent.

Of these required tags, only the 'mwpt' tag is processed by the CMM. However, a profile violates the specification if any are missing.

The profile missing-required.icc does not have a 'desc' tag.

This profile can be used to test that a CMM or application can handle a missing required tag.
