Got a question about ICC Profiles or colour management?

Core ICS: display class

Display class profiles convert between the RGB encoding of a display and the ICC PCS. In ICC.1 there is no mechanism to support high dynamic range displays and the extended luminance above that used for standard dynamic range displays. Display class profiles created according to the Extended Range Display ICS can support connections between HDR devices and the colorimetric PCS.

ICS-Extended Range

Profiles conforming to the Extended Range ICS connect the HLG encoding for HDR devices with a colorimetric PCS. The different Parts of this ICS define different processing elements.

ICS-ExtendedRange-Part 1
Part 1 of the ExtendedRange ICS limits profiles to a colorimetric PCS with D50 colorimetry for the 1931 standard observer.

ICS-ExtendedRange-Part 2
Part 2 of this ICS defines transforms with limited processing element support but more extended illuminant support, thus enabling extended dynamic range display space encoding workflows with less implementation requirements, and with an illuminant that directly corresponds to the white point of a display or working color space. The limited processing element support is the same as provided in Part 1.

This ICS allows for use of a custom colorimetric PCS using different illuminants and observers with associated PCC tags as defined in ISO 20677-1.

ICS-ExtendedRange-Part 3
this partPart 3 of this ICS allows transforms with more extended processing element support for more complicated modeling and color management situations including algorithmic modeling of color spaces and observer specific spectral modeling.
