Got a question about ICC Profiles or colour management?

Core ICS: output class

ICC.1 output profiles always convert from a device encoding to a colorimetric PCS based on D50 illuminant and CIE 1931 standard observer. In some workflows it is desirable to convert instead to different illuminants or observers, or to a spectral PCS. This can be achieved with an ICC.2 extendedOutput class profile.

ICS-ExtendedOutput

The ExtendedOutput ICS defines relationships between print output device encodings and a colorimetric Profile Connection Space (PCS) and/or a spectral PCS. This enables printer profiles to be defined for arbitrary observers and/or illuminants.

ICS-ExtendedOutput-Part 1
Part 1 of the ExtendedOutput ICS defines transforms with limited processing element support. It allows for the use of a custom colorimetric PCS using different illuminants and observers with associated PCC tags as defined in ISO 20677-1. It also allows for the ability to use a spectral PCS to determine colorimetry for any observer/illuminant using a Profile Connection Conditions override.

ICS-ExtendedOutput-Part 2
Part 2 of the ExtendedOuput ICS also allows for the use of a custom colorimetric or spectral PCS using different illuminants and observers, but allows the use of more complex encoding models. It also includes support for a bispectral PCS that accounts for fluorescence.

Future parts of this ICS may allow transforms that provide modeling of surface and lighting geometry.
